Subject: Taking it Deep on the Lake
After seeing one of the best Phish shows of the modern era, it seemed futile for any band to even think about following it. Remarkably magicgravy managed to play a show so dazzling that it was just as captivating as what had preceded. This recording is quite tasty but of course it doesn't fully represent how impressive it was to be there on the M.S. Dixie II, cruising Lake Tahoe in the middle of the night with a bunch of partying peeps.
Any magicgravy performance is something to behold and this is even better than average. One of the cool things about them is that they weave all these songs and thematic jams within the larger umbrella of their extended musical sagas. You won't find them labeled, but you'll find fun forays through "Billie Jean," "Walking on the Moon," "Afro Blue," and more amid these songs.
This trio is the hottest thing going right now and we can only hope that they'll tour more often and extensively so the world can all share in the greatness.
